The New Face Of Google Analytics

Google Analytics is one of the most valuable tools that a web developer can wield. And,in one swift movement towards user experience perfection they have revamped the interface of the standard of metrics utilities. It seems not only have they spent an inordinate amount of time beautifying the interface but constructed a vast new subset of tools for your statistics starved brain to digest.

We’re excited to announce the newly redesigned Google Analytics.
Over the next several weeks, we will be migrating all existing Analytics accounts to the new Google Analytics interface. You will be notified by email once your account has been migrated. For an entire month you will be able to access both the original interface and the new interface. During the migration, you should experience no interruption in service and you’ll be able to see all of your data regardless of which interface you use. Google has taken some of the user friendly interaction from its financial tools and seriously improved on the quantity and quality of data that can be consumed. The interaction design and interface and navigation of the the new Analytics design seems to set the bar at peak height.

Not only has the interface been improved, but the functionality of the reporting seems to have been increased to allow for more open corralling of data in less arbitrary formats and more specific searching for minutia of detailed information.

Google has outdone themselves. This is an interesting development and will surely cascade through their other products. I am very much looking forward to what impact this has on other online softwares and development tools, be they Google based or otherwise.
